Harm reduction is a field I was introduced to as I started volunteering at IDEA Exchange Tampa my first year of college at the University of South Florida. I study Microbiology and Linguistics and plan to become an infectious disease physician . I have learned a great deal about this very overlooked field ever since I started volunteering at IDEA Exchange my 1st year of college. Now, 2 years later, I am grateful for being connected to this organization. I have learned what it means to equitably care for an others and meeting them where they are at. Additionally, as someone plans to be an expert in treating infectious disease, I place a lot of value on preventing infections through public policy and education that supports those who do not have easy access to care. That is one of the main reasons why I love about being a staff member here; I feel like I am making an impact while learning firsthand how these two disciplines work together to serve others.
